Four Tips To Push Through Imposter Syndrome

Sometimes when things aren’t going our way and the challenges seem never ending, we can often times doubt our abilities or question our path. We all go through this from time to time and it’s important we roll with it. I’ve learned that one must recognize when to course correct when the time is right while keeping our eye on the prize. Whether it’s a concrete goal or fresh positive vibe to uplift our lives, we need these shifts in perspective to help overcome our life’s challenges and the dreaded ‘imposter syndrome’ if that comes over you.

Four Tips To Push Through Imposter Syndrome…

1. Face facts…Understand that constructive criticism is a good thing. Try to be open to learn and grow, even if it hurts your feelings. Listening to constructive criticism and then acting upon positive change are the key steps to accelerating your expertise.

2. Express yourself . Talk to a trusted friends, mentor, coach, therapist. I’ve leaned on business coaches and colleagues to problem solve my work challenges. It helps so much to have a compassionate ear to listen and support. Clients come to me to support them in transforming their lives within love and work. With the right partnership, we can quantum leap our personal growth to level up in real time.

3. Ask for Help. Trying to do everything alone can lead to frustration and total slow motion. We are meant to be in community. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. There are people out there that want to see you succeed. Drop all the naysayers and have linear focus and confidence to ask the right people for the key support you need. Just because you are multi-talented, it doesn’t mean you are a failure if you suck at something. My real life example is, though I am many things, I am not a techie. I had to hire people to support me with all the tech I have embarked on this year. I’ve grown so much, but I needed to ask for help big time. It’s okay. I don’t need to be good at everything. Fostering community and support goes a long way.

4. Practice makes perfect….almost. My beloved grandfather always used to say “practice makes perfect.” I learned the more you work at something, the better you get. Even people you would consider experts in their field still work to perfect their craft. I don’t know why I am still surprised to see my husband, who has been an artist since he was a child, still practice his craft. I would think, ‘why does he need to practice something he is naturally good at?’ But that dedication is precisely what takes one’s craft to the next level. You go from novice to pro…when you are dedicated to that special something. It’s the desire to do so, that makes the difference. I have passion for coaching and creative entrepreneurship. Do I have passion for mastering online marketing and social media? No! But my dedication to this work has created a strong desire for me to learn, to do things afraid by putting myself out there and now I’m excited about it.

It’s natural to find yourself on the roller coaster ride of self-confidence and imposter syndrome moments slipping in to jack up your momentum, but with awareness, you can press pause to the self-doubt and lean into your authenticity.
