Top Seven Evening Rituals to Promote Rest and Wellbeing

Do you know one surefire way to keep your energy and mood elevated? A good night’s sleep can be the game-changer. It’s the difference between you dragging and being irritable to feeling refreshed, alert and in good spirits. Not only that, when my clients complain of trouble with low productivity, inability to focus and feelings of low energy and feel down on themselves…guess what? They are often having trouble getting to sleep….and one culprit is because they are scrolling on their phone all night before bed. That will do it!

One way to feel refreshed from the day to day and to elevate your mood is to ensure you feel well rested. Pamper yourself and be intentional about setting aside time for your evening rituals. Try creating a sanctuary for yourself, maybe indulge in skin care rituals and refrain from scrolling on your phone all night and then expecting to have a great night’s sleep.

Here are a few evening rituals to ease you into a relaxed state so you get a good night’s sleep.

Top Seven Evening Rituals to Promote Rest and Wellbeing:

1. Lavender is great to promote a restful sleep, so why not try lavender essential oils flowing from an essential oil diffuser.

2. Cut Off Your Tech. Try at least cut your tech usage off thirty minutes to one hour before bed time. Yes, that means turning your phone off, stop binge-watching shows, close the laptop. If it’s all so tempting, try charging your phone in another room and getting a real alarm clock to use instead of your phone.

3. Read before bed. Not only is it great for our brain, but it also helps you fall asleep. There are numerous benefits to reading at least 15 pages a day - to expand knowledge base, vocabulary, exploring new worlds through various works. Give yourself an extra 30 minutes before bedtime to read your 15 pages and be proud of this commitment to your personal growth, all while offering you a positive wind down for a restful sleep.

4. Guided Meditations for Sleep. The meditation apps have a plethora of sleep inducing guided meditations or soothing music. I love the app Insight Timer.

5. Tea Time. A cup of tea to relax you before bed can be a nice touch. This Camomile & Lavender Tea is one of my favorites. This blend settles your nervous system when stressed and eases tension.

6. The Power of Writing. Journaling is a nice way to clear your mind before bed. One self-love practice that has helped me deal with overwhelm from busy lives is writing down five accomplishments for the day. It could be super small things like doing a household chore or cooking dinner or a big work or personal accomplishment. Celebrating the small stuff for ourselves really helps those of us that feel like we “never get anything done.” Do you ever think back on your day and say “what did I even do?” If you are like me, this practice helps shift the mindset to erase this false belief because we definitely do accomplish a lot most days.

7. Last resort: Gummies. 😃 My friend swears by cannabis gummies for sleep to help with insomnia. I haven’t tried them, but I hear they do work wonders. You just have to find the right brand and dose. If you take too much, you will end up waking up high, so do your research. Gummies can be beneficial if sleep is an issue for you.

I hope you enjoy testing out a few of these evening rituals. You do not need to put pressure on yourself to do it all. Just pick one and see how it goes.
